AI Agent Governance for Consequential Actions
AI governance becomes an execution problem when autonomous agents can call tools, change infrastructure, move data or trigger other consequential actions. AI agent governance adds controls around what an agent is allowed to do, under which policy, and with what evidence.
What AI agent governance means
Traditional AI governance often focuses on models, data, evaluation, risk management and organizational oversight. Those concerns remain important, but an acting agent introduces another question: should this specific proposed action be allowed to execute now?
That makes agent governance operational. Identity, authority, policy, freshness, approval state and evidence have to be evaluated close to the side effect rather than treated only as design-time documentation.
From AI governance to execution governance
AI agent execution governance focuses on the boundary between reasoning and action. The model or agent may propose an action, but proposal is not the same thing as authority.
A governed path can verify the agent identity, check assigned capabilities, evaluate policy, reject stale or replayed authority and produce a bounded decision before the downstream executor performs the side effect.
What Sentinel governs
Sentinel SCA is a pre-execution governance layer for explicitly integrated agent and autonomous-system workflows. It evaluates identity, authority and policy and returns a bounded governance decision with evidence.
Sentinel does not replace the model, make the agent intelligent or claim control over workflows that are not integrated through its execution boundary. Its guarantees apply to the governed path.

Useful AI agent governance combines signed identity, tenant-scoped authority, deterministic policy, freshness checks, replay protection, human review where required, fail-closed behavior and auditable evidence.
The objective is not to remove autonomy. It is to make consequential autonomy admissible only when the required authority and policy conditions are satisfied.
